Blogger Unleashed which is my 2007 “Make Money Online” Blog of the Year has given out the goods on how I get instant traffic to a new blog. Most people who start a new blog have trouble getting instant traffic, and that’s because they aren’t targeting the right keywords. He details the process of getting instant traffic by responding to an immediate event. Basically, when there’s breaking news, create a blogspot blog about it. I have shown a variant of this trick before, making this blog #1 for “get new adwords account”
and explaining why that is a good example of what google calls “query deserves freshness” or QDF
He calls it “Google supply and demand”, I’ve been calling it “Google loves type-in traffic” to my friends at syndk8 and other forums for quite a while, because its exactly the same concept, if you can generate type-in traffic, from YouTube or MySpace you will get exactly the same effect, quick indexing and ranking for new keyword phrases. But whatever you call it, it works. I think Michael Martinez was the first to explain to me how Google likes type-in traffic, but I can’t find his original article on this. I’m going to write him and ask if he wrote something about this and maybe I’ll have a source for you.
But, in any event, if Google doesn’t have good info on a term and a lot of people are looking for it. AND you supply it, you can get instant, imediate traffic. Google’s #1 focus is not really “index the world’s information” It’s more “provide relevant content to Google’s many visitors” Google has to feed the beast with the most topical information quickly, because otherwise they are losing ground to places like Digg or Ask or Yahoo News.
