Google Gadgets is expanding to the Mac Dashboard. Google Gadgets for the Mac

It requires you to install Google Desktop but will allow you to install Google Gadgets right to the desktop. I have thought previously that Google Gadgets really didn’t have the reach that it should, and I figure thats basically because how many widget agregators do you really need, with both major hardware platforms offering very similar services. I think this is a very good move to boost both Google Desktop for the Mac and Google Gadgets in general. Make no mistake there is an all out Widget War going on, basically due to what Facebook has accomplished with their apps. The winner of that War (think Microsoft in the early 90’s) is going to be the one who wins the developers mindshare. RIght now that seems to me to be facebook, but Google absolutely can’t give that up, and thats why we’ve seen major pushes like OpenSocial and this.
